"IU has got to get this one right. The problem, is that I'm not convinced they will."and regarding why they won't...
"Rick Greenspan is on the committee."Unfortunately, it looks like my premonition was right on. Greenspan has struck again, this time by striking out with Tony Bennett. Bennett, rightfully appeared to be IU's #1 choice for a head coach, but has turned the Hoosier program down. Why? Well, quoting ESPN.com
After speaking to Indiana athletic director Rick Greenspan on the telephone Saturday night, Washington State coach Tony Bennett told ESPN.com Sunday he has decided not to pursue the Hoosiers' head coaching job.
So, you're telling me that all it took was Greenspan talking to the best coaching candidate to convince him not to come to IU.....from WASHINGTON STATE?!?! Can this guy be any more of a trainwreck?
All this to say, that Indiana now has to find a viable candidate and a name being thrown around is.....dear God, help me.....Mike Montgomery. Yes, this makes perfect sense since Montomery has coached 20 years at Montana, Stanford and the Golden State Warriors, so he'll fit perfectly in the Midwest and will have tons of Indiana recruiting ties. Also, since he's 61 years old, he's a young up and comer that will be able to connect with kids and be at IU for a long time to come.
Oh yeah, also being considered....Lon Kruger. Gotta love the unibrow.
I don't have the strength for this...
