Last weekend Maggie and I hit the road again with Sandy and headed to Evansville, Indiana ... way down in the southwest corner of the state. (And no Donna, we did NOT go to the casino!)
We spent Friday mostly outside touring a few of the local attractions. Angel Mounds is a state historic site on the river and you can walk around and tour the grounds of an Indian tribe from long ago. Pretty interesting to learn how they lived back then ...
Then we headed to the Reitz Home. The Reitzs were very influential in the Victorian era and made their money in the lumber industry. Today you can tour the home (which is beautiful) and learn a little more their family history.
Then we headed to Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve. It was raining on and off so we didn't get to walk on many trails. Maggie and I did get our picture next to a state tulip tree!
And we both got to hold and touch a snake.
We planned on visiting the zoo on Saturday. It was pouring down rain, but it kind of worked to our advantage. There weren't a lot of people, the animals were plenty active and we got to tour the grounds mostly in a golf cart since I was there for work! :)
Afterwards we headed to the Children's Museum of Evansville where Maggie played her little heart out!
Another great weekend in the books. So thankful I get to travel for work and that my mother-in-law is happy to follow along with us when Ryan can't go!
